One Saturday night, my five year old nephew was spending the night. I was worried a movie would wake him up so I took to wandering around the internets. When I found the Alexis Ren ab workout video, I couldn’t believe how many views it had!

Could this be the miracle ab workout we’ve all been seeking? Naturally, I had to find out.

So this cool kid (yours truly) did the Alexis Ren ab workout around 9pm on a Saturday night and you’ll never guess the results. But first? Some back story and details about the workout.

What is the Alexis Ren ab workout?

Alexis Ren is a model and social media celebrity in her 20s. In January 2018, she released a video of her go-to daily ab workout that went viral. There are 19 total movements throughout the workout, each completed for :30 seconds.

List of Alexis Ren ab movements in order:

  • Sit ups
  • Knee touch crunches
  • Heel touches
  • Bicycle crunches
  • Russian twists but it looks like knee touch crunches
  • Reach through crunches
  • Toe tap leg lifts
  • Flutter kicks
  • Scissor kicks
  • Leg lifts
  • Leg up alternating toe crunch
  • Crunch kicks
  • Mountain climbers
  • Plank
  • Right side plank
  • Left side plank
  • Plank
  • Plank twists
  • Spider climbers

Suggestions for beginners

For someone just starting the Alexis Ren ab workout, I would suggest doing each movement for only 20 seconds and adding 10 seconds in-between each movement. By adding just a little bit of rest, you give yourself time to figure out the next exercise while also getting a much needed break. The workout will still take you less than 15 minutes but you’ll thank me for the suggestion later. 

Also, remember that Alexis Ren already has abs. If you are just starting to get into working out, don’t be discouraged if you can’t finish the full Alexis Ren ab workout. Ten minutes is a long time for anyone to continually work on the same muscle group.

Is the Alexis Ren ab workout effective?

Is your goal to get a six pack? Doing this ab workout two or three times per week post workout will certainly help you towards that goal. But know that you can do all the ab workouts in the world but if you don’t put in work towards a healthy diet, you more than likely will never get a six pack. 

All that to say, this ab workout is a great option as it targets not only the abdominis muscles in your core but the external obliques on each side of your stomach too. It’s a balanced ab workout that will fatigue your core after only ten minutes of work. If you haven’t tried the Alexis Ren ab workout, it is absolutely worth a shot!

My personal thoughts

The first two or three times I attempted this workout, it was not pretty. I tried to watch the video but I struggled to follow along and know which movement was coming up next. Personally, I found it easier to get familiar with each ab movement, write out the list and then time myself as I went through the movements.

On a completely random note, I was blown away by the comments section of this Alexis Ren ab workout. Social media these days seems full of people trying to drag others down. This video was the complete opposite! It’s full of users encouraging one another to keep trying, holding each other accountable and just refreshingly nice comments. So if you’re in need of motivation, reading the comments may help you get out there and do the workout!
